Construction Project Safety Management

Description

Construction project safety management is a professional training course designed to equip construction professionals with the knowledge and practical skills required to identify hazards, assess risks, implement safety controls, and manage occupational health and safety throughout the construction project life cycle. The training course emphasizes proactive safety leadership, regulatory compliance, accident prevention, emergency preparedness, and continuous improvement of site safety performance. This training course presents aspects of construction safety management that guides and serves as a basis to initiate safety requirements; plan safety, acquire, implement, manage and monitor safety practices in order to develop and authorize construction project safety management documents; direct, manage, and validate construction project services and works; and monitor and control construction project performances to successfully complete works. It outlines the safety management concepts and processes (inputs, mechanisms such as tools and techniques, constraints and output) in carrying out construction projects. The training course is mainly applicable to building and road projects, and with little modifications for other construction projects delivery methods other than design bid build and design build. In this professional training course, practical applications, case studies and project-based scenarios are included. Topics covered include the following:

• Safety management initiation
• Safety management planning
• Safety management execution
• Safety management monitoring
• Safety management closing
• Inputs, mechanisms, constraints and outputs

Outcomes

Upon the completion of this training course, participants will be able to:

• Describe safety management processes in construction projects
• Adopt safety processes, procedures, strategies and methods through construction project management processes
• Demonstrate safe working conditions and practices to minimize accidents/injuries, reduce fatalities and property damages
• Identify safety requirements, set criterions, policies and standards and safety measurements – initiate safety management
• Define safety strategies and methods, determine approaches, planning, and execution of the requirements for project safety management – plan safety management
• Plan systemic safety process and activities; check if planned processes are self-standing process and integration with other processes, evaluate results of management efforts – validate safety management
• Establish applicable measures for monitoring and evaluation of compliance to the safety requirements and trace gaps and find ways to fill the gap thereby increasing safety performance – monitor safety management
