Construction Project Environment Management

Description

Construction project environment management is a professional training course designed to equip construction professionals with the knowledge and practical skills to identify, assess, manage, and monitor environmental impacts associated with construction activities. The training course focuses on regulatory compliance, pollution prevention, resource efficiency, waste management, climate resilience, and sustainable construction practices throughout the project life cycle. This training course addresses the problems of site environmental management on construction sites and the need for industry to comply with state and federal legislation in relation to environmental protection. It outlines the environmental management concepts and processes (inputs, mechanisms such as tools and techniques, constraints and output) in carrying out construction projects. The training course is mainly applicable to building and road projects, and with little modifications for other construction projects delivery methods other than design bid build and design build. In this professional training course, practical applications, case studies and project-based scenarios are included. Topics covered include the following:

• Environmental management planning
• Environmental management implementation and operation
• Environmental management checking and corrective action
• Inputs, mechanisms, constraints and outputs

Outcomes

Upon the completion of this training course, participants will be able to:

• Describe environmental management processes in construction projects
• Adopt environmental management processes, procedures, strategies, tools, mechanisms and methods through construction project management processes
• Demonstrate environmental management practices to minimize environmental damages or impacts
• Identify environmental aspects, legislative environmental requirement, policies and standards and environmental measurements/checklists – initiate environmental management
• Define environmental aspects/strategies and methods, determine approaches, planning, and execution of the requirements for project environmental management – plan environmental management
• Plan systemic environmental process and activities; check if planned processes are self-standing process and integration with other processes, evaluate results of management efforts – validate environmental management
• Establish applicable measures for monitoring and evaluation of compliance to the environmental requirements and trace gaps and find ways to fill the gap thereby increasing environmental performance – checking and corrective action of environmental management.
